For the uninitiated, this coffee maker allows you to fix a quick 8oz cup of coffee in under a minute, no mess, no clean up, just quick, fresh, tasty coffee.
This whole K-cup system is brilliant. It’s like someone listed my general complaints with fixing coffee and designed this machine for me.
I want to enjoy coffee during certain occasions and have people over, but I tire of using the same coffee over and over… enter the k-cup, i have whatever flavor I want whenever.
I rarely drink a whole pot of coffee, nor half, so it’s always a bit wasteful… now with this system I can fix 1 cup of one flavor, then come back and fix another. It’s simple.
It really is a great machine… for those who like to enjoy coffee on occasion. Not the best machine for those who drink it as a main drink. It costs about 50cents a coffee (if you buy in bulk), but everything stays fresh (if you fix 2 cups of coffee a day from ground coffee, chances are it’ll go stale before you use it all, and you’ll tire of the flavor and want to try something new).
All in all, this is a great machine, awesome for special occasions. keep your regular coffee pot to make big pots of coffee for times when it’s needed and use this as a nice treat.
It also makes cocoa and tea.
Look for the variety packs of k-cups on amazon, subscribe and save and get a nice discount.
Bottom Line? Highly Recommended for those who enjoy a nice coffee. Not for those who live on coffee.
I previously had the Keurig Mini which quit working in less than 9 months. I purchased the Mr Coffee and like it much better. With the Keurig you had to follow an annoying sequence of when to load the K cup, water and mug, not so with this machine. I would prefer a 10 oz serving but I can live with the 8 oz.
I wanted a 1-cup for a while and finally received this as a gift. There hasn’t been a day where I haven’t used this little beast. Brews fairly quickly (2-3 min) for 8 oz. cup, which is the only size you can really get out of it. The one-touch makes this device one of the easiest to use.
Pros:
-Fast brew (2-3 min)
-Simple to operate
-Small in size
Cons:
-8 oz is only size.
-Drink will probably be cool within 3 minutes.
Since I am not THAT picky, I have to say that I love this machine and at half the price of the “limited edition” Kuerig…it’s well worth it.
Firstly, I would like to say to the people who’s only complaint is the size.
You should known that when you read the info of the product itself before buying. It clearly says its a single brew. Typically, that is about 8-10oz. I bought this for my fiance, and it was just great to not have to read an instruction guide upon setup. For us, at least. Pretty straight forward. Find a clear spot on the counter, plug it, lift up front part to inset k-cup, close, add water. Booyah. Coffee in seconds. Strength? That all depends on the brew you are choosing. I happen to buy the reusable k-cup insert, which personally to me is what makes the machine shine. Instead of being limted to what k-cups are out there, I can now have any coffee I want. Thank you for saving me a ton of money on this. With the reusable k-cup, I’m not spending about $.30 fir a cup of starbucks.
This clearly appears to be the future of the home brew. Many coffee makers are going to follow suit with their own k-cups in stores. Starbucks only uses the other brand. Tassimo. But chances are everyone is going to jump into the 1-shot coffee makers.
Love this coffee maker, lets you overflow the resevior and make a larger cup. bought this and the single shot keurig machine and this one won the competition.
I bought this coffee maker for our morning cup of coffee. We used to have the Bodum French Press which is wonderful, but it seemed that we wasted a lot of coffee beacuse we only drink 1-2 cups in the morning. This brewer works great, and we found surprisingly tasty coffee and tea in Keurig cups.
The only disadvantage is that I have to refill water every time I want to brew coffee as it only holds one cup. However, I think that is not that bad, and there are Keurig brewers with a bigger water tank, so I made this choice… Really good product; I would buy it again.
I boought this machine for my daughter for her 17th bday. In the past I have bought her other small coffee makers and she used the last two maybe once total. The one she got for christmas was still in the box. The other ones were inexpensive small standard machines. She loves this. In fact my niece who lives with us also loves it. In the past I threw out coffee. Now they get up in morning go into kitchen minutes before there bus arrives and brew a cup into a coffee mug. They then put in there travel mugs and on there way they go. They both usually make two brews to fill there travel mugs. They can each make different flavors and I can followup with tea or cocoa for my eight year old with no clean up really.
Very easy machine to set up and use. Just remember to use filtered water. Not sure what happens if you dont I imagine regular water begins to build up as in regular coffee makers.
Bought mine on sale from a local electronics store (The Blue and Yellow store) for $69.99. The machine is nice and simple to use. It came with 5 k-cup samples and I must say that the Newman’s organic dark roast and Tully’s French roast tasted AWESOME!!! The machine itself has 1 major flaw, it can only brew 8 oz at once. I usually drink 10-12 oz for my morning needs. I tried this morning to do 1 time at 8 oz and then add 3 oz water on the same k-cup, but it made a weird noise on the second brew and the coffee came out in a very light color so I assume this system does not allow you to re-brew the same k-cup. I ordered the solofill cup yesterday from amazon so once I tried that cup with regular grind coffee, I will write a review for the solofill cup with this coffee brewer.
Lots of Pros; price, simplicity to use, quick, no mess, no clean up!
Con: Only 1 in my opinion, it can only brew one 8 oz cup.
The machine works pretty good. As so many people have mentioned the 8oz reservoir is a bit small. I really wish it was bigger. I knew when I bought it this was the main complaint, but I bought it anyways. I agreed with the person that said, yes it’s small, but if you want more than 8oz just run it again. Seems perfectly logical.
But what does this mean when you get it? Well, it means that if you are like me and have a cup bigger than a 8oz mug you will be running it twice every single time you want a cup of coffee. Which gets old pretty fast. It really makes you hesitate before making a cup, because you think, oh darn I have to run it twice, it’s not worth the hassle. Which is sad, because it really does make a good cup of coffee. But, a bigger machine doesn’t really fix this either (read on below).
My one big complaint about this brewer is it leaks a bit. I’m yet to figure out why it does. I’m careful to not overfill it or tip it after it’s full. The only thing I haven’t tried is actually under-filling it and seeing if that helps. It’s not a huge leak, but after I run it, if I lift the machine there is always a drop of water about the size of a quarter underneath it. Very annoying. Like I said, I’m going to try and put a little less and see if that helps. I’ll update this with my results. I have this on my desk at work, so I have to keep it tidy. I fear if it keeps leaking I’m going to have to call customer service, which I hate doing.
So this raises the question. Why haven’t I replaced the brewer with one that has a bigger tank? Simple, someone at work has the B60. Even with the bigger reservoir, have you read the sizes it actually brews? 6, 8, and 10oz. I have 8, I would never want 6, and 10 wouldn’t fill my mug either! I’d still have to run it twice! I could get a brewer that does 12oz, but those are at least $179.00, which doesn’t fill my 16oz mug either. It just isn’t worth it for a person like me that drinks 1 or 2 cups per day.
…….NEW UPDATE!! to 5 stars. I figured out how to stop the leaking. The fill line is very optimistic on the brewer. You have to keep the water just below the full line otherwise it will leak the excess out of the bottom. When the reservoir only holds 8oz it’s really tempting to try and squeeze a few extra drops in past the full line, but don’t do it, because it goes out the bottom, not into the cup. So I’m going to go ahead and up this to 5 stars. The leaking was my fault.
I received the coffee maker on 5/2/11, it’s now 5/29/11, and I’ve had no problems. The gift was for my mother, a once-in-a-while coffee drinker who hates making a whole pot for one cup. I was weary to buy this, but I thought for the price it was worth the try. I may have lucked out compared to other reviewers; I’ve had no problems, and my mom just loves it!
I brought this as a gift for myself and my parents since their avid coffee drinkers and it’s PERFECT it brews in under one minute which is perfect for my father who has to be at work early in the morning. I am so glad i chose this over the more expensive keurig machines. The only con to this product is the fact that it doesn’t brew a nice size cup but it doesn’t bother me i can get 2 uses out of one k cup so i just add a little more water, press the button, and bam perfect size cup for me
I’m very pleased with this purchase. I would not recommended this if you’re making multiple cups in a row for a large amount of people. This does work well for an office with 1-3 people using it. Coffee tastes great!
Enjoy and happy buying!
I bought this for my RV. I have a Keurig B70 at home and wanted to use k-cups when on the road. It works great, even if I have to wait longer than what I’m used to at home.
One side note: For some reason this unit makes coffee STRONGER than my B70. I thought I was imagining it at first. But with the same k-cup and brew size, the Mr Coffee result is a slightly stronger cup of coffee. My only guess is perhaps it brews at a higher temperature and extracts a bit more from the grounds. Not a negative. In fact, I’ll now take some of the light roast k-cups I have that are too light in the B70 on the road.
My Tassimo machine would brew instantly, I miss that. What I do not miss is that Tassimo lost their deal with Starbucks and now has no good bold coffee. Keurig has many great bold coffee selections, and this Mr. Coffee machine is simple, seems durable and brews a great cup of coffee. For ease of use, cost and quality of coffee this machine is really excellent for one coffee drinker. A bit slow if you have more than one coffee drinker in the house.
A long time Keurig user and fan. Wanted to share the convenience with mom (84 yrs). Very pleasantly surprised with the Mr. Coffee version. MUCH quieter than Keurig. Simple to use, fast, and delicious at an affordable price. Perfect for solo user with limited counter space. Mom loves fresh coffee, but hates the waste of making it by the pot – this system is perfect! Contrary to other reviews, coffee brews very hot, we have to make sure mom waits for that first sip. We use bottled water which makes filling the reservoir easy with out messy spills. We’re having fun introducing mom to coffee varieties, but will purchase the Solo refillable cup in case her traditional favorite is missed. Highly recommended without hesitation!!
over all I like this coffee maker. It has a small footprint so it doesn’t take up a lot of counter space and it has the best price around. I am against the k-cup idea as I don’t believe all the plastic disposables are good for the environment. You can buy the reusable filter that Keurig makes and it works in this item. My only complaint is the size of the coffee it brews. I like a large cup and this seems like 1/2 cup. The good news is that after the first water brews I add more and it only takes a minute. I recommend it. I paid almost $25 for the reusable filter,I cannot fathom why it costs that much.
I purchased the Mr. Coffee Single Serve Brewer and it has now exploded open twice covering my kitchen, and myself the first time, in hot coffee grounds. I am now afraid to use it! I am attempting to return it to purchase a Keurig model. I appreciated the price and the ease of use but I agree, it only brews a half cup. I am also tired of cleaning up coffee grounds off of everything!
