I purchased the Cuisinart after going through 3 Keurig B70s and a Brevelle since Christmas, (all three were defective with pump problems and very LOUD.) The Brevelle 700 worked okay but had these really annoying flashing lights that flashed all the time “Open Head”. The arrow lights were extremely bright and bothersome.
So far the Cuisinart SS700 works really well. Very little noise and the pump works just fine. I like the larger water tank and nothing flashes at me!
I have been using a Keurig Platinum Machine for about a year now and had to replace it 2 times. Once for both hot and cold water draining out of the bottom of the unit and the second for making expresso size cups when I asked for the 11.25 oz. cup. I returned the Keurig and got this Brand New Cuisinart about 3 weeks ago. It works great, the water container is larger and the max cup size is 12oz. I get great cups of coffee and the machine works beautifully. I use regular tap water with the charcoal filters and the coffee taste is super. So far this machine is the best I have had and I think Cuisinart makes a superior product every time. You can make your own Kcups since Cuisinart has included one in the side of the machine for your delight at no extra cost.
Love this coffee maker! After several years of struggling with my Tassimo machine warranty issues and the difficulty of finding T-discs in my area, I decided to make the switch to a K-cup brewer. After reading many reviews, I decided to go with this Cuisinart model because of the 3 year warranty vs. the 1 year warranty of the Keurig brewers. And I am so pleased with this machine. Every cup of coffee has been perfect. Of course you have to experiment with which brand, flavor & strength of coffees you like, but what a luxury that is after having such a limited selection of T-discs before. My favorite feature of this machine is the iced coffee setting!! Now I can brew a quick serving of iced coffee without any hassle. You won’t be sorry if you go with this brewer. My advice is to spend the extra few dollars and go for this one!!!
Absolutely love this product. But I didn’t when I first got it! The first couple of brews of coffee had a plastic taste to it. So I filled the tank, added two tablespoons of white vinegar, and brewed cleanly (no coffee) until the tank was empty. I then refilled the tank 2 more times, but without vinegar, and ran it through.
Now the coffee tastes great and I love this machine!!!
This is the best brewer by far for Keurig K Cup lovers! Extra big reservoir really does make a difference, quiet brewing, cute rinse option and the hot water for tea, hot chocolate etc without having to use the k-cup option is great! Looks terrific and after owning the keurig B60 and B70 previously that after awhile gave an unpredictable size cup of coffee no matter how much I de-scaled and cleaned and using a 3rd (not sure of model) one at work, the SS700 is my favorite by far!
If you are looking for a single cup coffee maker then look no further. We purchased this one as an early Christmas gift for ourselves and we can not say enough good things about it. Its quiet, fast and easy to use. My seven year old can make her hot chocolate now with the push of a button and my husband and I are enjoying the different coffees. We were hesitant about getting it mainly beacause of the price and now we are glad we did. The design looks great on the countertop with the K-cup carousel next to it. The coffee house coffee doesnt even compare with the coffee we get from this. Its consistent everytime unlike the coffee house. Its nice that we have so much variety to choose from too as I like a milder coffee and my husband enjoys a bolder coffee. I drink hot tea as well and this is by far the easiest, most consistent way to enjoy it. The price of the K-cups isnt as bad as we thought they would be either. Its costing us about .44 per k-cup and its worth it for us. We are both coffee and tea drinkers so its a splurge that we dont feel guilty about at all. It saves us money already because we find ourselves making a cup of coffee before we go somewhere because we dont want to have to drink the stuff out there now. We can brew our own cup in the time it takes to grab our keys. If anything negative has come from us buying this machine its that we are more picky about our coffee. We know what great, perfectly brewed coffee tastes like now and find ourselves turning our nose up at Starbucks and other mainstream coffee houses. If you are a coffee or tea lover, you will not be disappointed with this machine.
I LOVE my Keurig coffee but the coffee makers are another story. I have been through two Keurig brand makers in the last 18 months. They are loud and don’t last nearly as long as they should for the price.
The Cuisinart is considerably quieter than my old Keurig. I love the larger cup size…as it allows you to have a real “mug” of coffee. I also like the convenient storage area for the reusable filter. It appears to be of better quality craftmanship. Certainly not a cheap coffee maker…but I strongly feel in this case that you get what you pay for.
I purchased this coffeemaker for the office. This is the only K-cup brewer that I have found that offers so many beverage sizes: 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12oz. It features a timer, do that it is ready to go when I arrive at the office, and is ready all day. It has a large 80 oz water tank, so I can refill it just once or twice a day. You can set a default beverage size, so you can just put in a K-cup, press Brew, and have a cup of coffee in less than 60 seconds. It has a hot water setting, and a rinse setting that dispenses 4oz of water to clean the brewing chamber of prior residue.
We brew coffee, hot chocolate, and tea with ours. The brewer comes with a My K-cup filter that stows away inside a door on the unit (You can use your own coffee/tea in the reusable filter)
The only downside I see is that sometimes, a few coffee grounds end up on the top edge of the brewing chamber and are somewhat difficult to clean.
My wife and I began the “single serving” coffee maker quest 4 years ago. We went cheap at first, purchasing a Black & Decker unit for $56…what a disaster!!! Water all over the place and extremely disappointing flavor results. So we decided to quit messing…I do mean MESSING…around and got ourselves the Bunn “My Cafe’” for $350. We were satisfied with the results despite the noises it produced, but found that again, the inconsistency of the results due to varying fineness of the grind between different brands. Too course, it was weak, too fine, the machine had a heck of a time pushing through the water so you had to perform two cycles to get the amount of coffee we desired, plus it put a strain on the pump and discharge line. Well after a year or so, the inline check valve on the discharge line split…leaking water all inside the machine and all over the counter. We decided to get another one since overall we liked the results….and it worked fine, right up to the date we got the Cuisinart SS-700. The deciding factor was we were seeing that Pods were going the way of the Betamax…getting scarce, and expensive online (shipping etc). So I started making my own pods with the “Perfect Pod Maker”….what a pain in the %#*! It was time to make the
switch to the Keurig system! Friends of ours had gotten the basic model Keurig maker a year ago, we weren’t particularly impressed with the flavor, plus the noise was horrid. So I did my research and found that the Cuisinart model consistently review positively, and one independent testing outfit said it was flat out the BEST…period. So we took the leap.
First off, it looks impressive! But as I found out, that impressiveness went way beyond it’s looks. The initial set up was straight forward and effortless. Even setting up the clock/automatic functions was a piece of cake. My first actual test of it’s coffee making abilities was with using the included My K-Cup reusable filter with the coffee I was using to make my own pods with…..ASTOUNDING!!!! 1000% difference in flavor. Plus the noise level was extremely low, it went through the cycle effortlessly. So I said, “okay, what will the pre-packaged cups do?” I was blown away! Fantastic flavor, the temperature was spot on, and virtually no mess. I have since brewed a dozen different flavors/brands, and each one becomes my new favorite….SOLD!!!
I have gone through this long, drawn out review to indicate that I have seen all the rest/best….folks, you CANNOT GO WRONG with this machine. It is the rare combination of not only looking great…my wife LOVES that part, but we both are giddy about the results it produces. And it does so not sounding like a 747. I think what separates this unit from the others is the brewing temperature. All I know is that we are both rediscovering the pure pleasures of a good cup of coffee that is hassle free to make, from a unit that is pleasing to the eye. Take it from someone who has been on all sides of this “single server” equation… the Cuisinart SS-700 will bring you great coffee pleasure…end of sentence!!
I have purchased so many different coffee brewers over the years it’s not even funny. I purchased a Cuisinart coffee grinder. I experimented with different filters. I tried all kinds of brands of coffee. No matter what brewer, coffee combination I could not get the desired taste that I was after.
I started using my Cuisinart brewer several days ago. I was totally impressed! The ease of setting up the brewer and programing it was easy. The manuel was easy to follow and did not read like some science book.
The Kcups in the variety box I purchased were interesting in the various flavors. It took burning through five or six cups to find one I liked. I also found that the preset serving size brewed the best cup. I am glad it has the ability to use my favorite coffee. (my kcup). Since I like to grind the beans and purchase the coffee from Starbucks. Instead of day old coffee late in the day, it now is easy to enjoy a fresh brewed cup without brewing twelve cups.
To sum it up, the ease of use, not having to deal with grinds etc. It is absolutely great! This brewer is the best I have had in the search for coffee house coffee. I failed to mention the hot chocolate is great! I have yet to purchase a Cuisinart product that was anything but fist class quality. This brewer is well worth the higher purchase price. I give the brewer five stars and highly reccommend it for your home or small office. It is so good I have ordered one for my office.
Ever since I tried my sister’s B70 Keurig, I have been wanting a Keurig of my own. My sister eventually bought the Cuisinart SS-700 as a houswarming gift to me and I love it! My previous coffee maker (a very nice Cuisinart) was great, but I found it a waste to have to make more coffee than what would be consumed. That’s why I love the idea of being able to make a single serving of coffee. I also love the variety of K-cup coffees, and teas. And it’s great that you can use your own coffee!
PLUSES: It’s very quiet when it brews (the B70 is a tad louder, but not by much), has various cup sizes to choose from, i like the rinse and hot water features, and love how huge the water resevoir is!
MINUSES: Nothing yet. Hopefully there will be no issues with the water pump, like I’ve seen in other reviews.
I haven’t tried the iced coffee feature yet – will have to try that when the weather gets warm.
Overall, I love this coffee maker and would recommend it.
The SS-700 is everything and more than I expected. It’s a great brewer. I’ve had it over a month now. It took me some time to find Keurig cups that were dark/strong enough for my preferences. Most mornings I brew using the 6oz serving size to yield very strong coffee, to which I add cream, so it’s perfect. The filter cup that is supplied with it allows you to use your own coffee grounds, which is also a very nice feature, allowing you to make very strong coffee, or weaker, as you determine how much coffee to add to the screen basket. The brew cycle is very quiet compared to other machines I’ve seen in friends homes. I’m very pleased and feel it’s a very good value.
Love love love it! So easy, no mess, no cleaning a pot, delicious coffee in seconds! my only regret is not buying this single serve sooner.
First, let me say that I bought this coffee maker believing that I’d have to send it back to the manufacturer for a fix due to the water pump. I had just read that they had fixed the issue and that newer stock (a year ago) would be better in this capacity, but I still figured there was a high chance I’d have to send it back to Cuisinart. I have used a few other Keurig models that had gone bad and there was a 3 year warranty on this one so I took my chances. I also bought this model on sale for around $150 which i felt was a good price.
I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. It’s at least 10 times quieter than most of the other keurig models, and it has great features that while not used everyday, come in handy. Granted, my machine doesn’t get used daily. It normally brews 4 cups of coffee on Saturday and 4 cups on Sunday (my office has a keurig during the week), not that we don’t use it with company over or other random times, and I use it occasionally for the hot water feature as well. I once had an issue where it had a false start, and i thought, “well it’s happened”, but I turned the machine off, turned it back on, and it worked like a charm….Never happened again.
In summary. I haven’t had the issues that many of the others are dealing with. I would go in realizing that there could be issues with the pump that would require you to send it back (under a 3 year warranty mind you), but that out of all the keurig brewers, this is the one I’ve personally had the least amount of problems with. I would buy this model time and time again.
For me, getting a single-serve coffee maker for a condo that we use only on an occasional basis was a “no brainer”. I only use “Extra Bold” blends, e.g., Dark Sumatran, Dark Magic, French Roast, et al, but have no complaints about the quality or strength of the coffee. However, while I am happy with our purchase and would purchase the same item again, the coffee maker has been lightly used, i.e., perhaps a dozen times.
